2022年大选

2021年6月8日，布里特宣布参加2022年阿拉巴马州联邦参议院选举共和党初选。[26][27] 她之前从未竞选过公职，但随著竞选的进行，她的民调逐步攀升。[28]

作为参议员候选人，布里特公开与前总统唐纳·川普结盟。[29] 她对川普在2020年总统大选中的舞弊的不实宣称表示信赖 。[30]她在共和党初选中晋级决选，对手是联邦众议员莫·布鲁克斯 。川普于2022年6月10日正式支持布里特，称她为“无畏的美国优先战士”。他先前已撤回对布鲁克斯的背书。[31] 布里特在2022 年6月21日的决选中以63%的得票率击败布鲁克斯。之后，她在11月8日的大选中轻易胜出。[32][33]

布里特于2023年1月3日正式就任。在第118届美国国会领导人选举之后，她没有表示是否支持米奇·麦康奈尔或里克·斯科特成为参议院少数党领袖。[36] 在上任之前，她在共和党全国委员会新成立的共和党顾问委员会被选为唯一的新任参议员。[37]

布里特在美国参议院的第一次投票是反对拜登政府提名的国防部职位。[38] 在她上任的第一个月，她共同提出了八项法案，并两次造访墨西哥与美国边境。[39] 她继续造访边境，同时共同提出法案以遏止非法移民，并拨款兴建边境墙。[40]

2023年2月，CoinDesk报导称，布里特是阿拉巴马州国会代表团的三位成员之一，他们与罗伯特·阿德霍尔特和加里·帕尔默一起从FTX（一家已解散的加密货币交易所）收到了钱。作为参议院拨款委员会的成员，布里特在2023年3月与其他22位参议员一起呼吁修订美国宪法，要求每年达到平衡预算，同时也批评拜登政府的预算计划。[41]
