英语世界

英语世界（英语：English-speaking world）指使用英语作为官方语言或官方语言之一的国家。世界上的英语国家包括英国、美国、加拿大、澳大利亚、新西兰、爱尔兰和南非等。同时，英语世界也可以指使用英语的地区。
中世纪早期的英格兰是英语的发源地，该语言的现代形式自17世纪以来传播到世界各地，首先受到英格兰、后来是大英帝国的全球影响，然后是美国的影响。透过这些国家各类印刷和电子媒体，英语已成为国际话语的主导语言和科学、航海、法律等许多地区和专业领域的通用语言。
美国和印度是英语使用者最多的国家，分别为3.06亿和1.29亿。其次是英国（6,800万人）和尼日利亚（6,000万人）。截至2022年，英语母语人士约有4亿。如果算上以英语为第二语言的人群，估计英语使用者的总数约为15亿到20亿。大卫·克里斯托（David Crystal）在2003年计算得出，非母语人士与母语人士的数量之比为三比一。
除了英语的主要变体（美式英语、英式英语、加拿大英语、澳大利亚英语、爱尔兰英语、新西兰英语）及其子变体之外，南非、印度、尼日利亚、菲律宾、新加坡、牙买加、特立尼达和多巴哥等国家也有数百万以英语为基础的克里奥尔语到标准英语等各种方言为母语的人。其他国家和地区，例如加纳，也将英语作为其主要官方语言，尽管英语不是大多数人的母语。英语在英联邦的许多国家中都占有官方语言地位。
