吉威蒂诺圭·帕卡娃库克·佩修(英语:Keewaydinoquay Pakawakuk Peschel,1919年—1999年7月21日),学者、民族植物学家、草药医师、女巫医、教师与作家。阿尼士纳阿比族鹤氏族的长老。佩修于1919年出生于芝加哥,并于芝加哥一处传统阿尼士纳阿比族领地花园岛长居。
生平
[编辑]佩修出生于从曼尼通群岛到医院的渔船上出生,但在出生没多久,船体就翻覆沉没,而她在该次灾难中生还,被部分人认为是奇迹。她的乳名,意义为“与熊同行”,是取材自一个故事,描述一位女孩乘父母在采集蓝莓时溜出毯子,并与熊一起离开,在父母还没有回来之前,吃掉灌木丛上掉下来的蓝莓。她的正式名字,吉威蒂诺圭(Giiwedinokwe,有时被记录为Keewaydinoquay),意义为“西北风的女人”,来自于她有远见的探索[1]。
她在9岁时,与阿尼士纳阿比族女巫医诺迪玛赫克威拜师学艺,并以女巫医的身份工作许多年;那时,许多她的同胞只能接触极少量的正规医疗方法,或是正规医疗方法失败,被认为是绝症时,她就会治疗这些病患。在她57岁时,决定学习人类学,认为只要她得到学位,就能够听她说话[2]。她获得了韦恩州立大学的教育硕士学位,并且完成了密歇根大学的民族植物学博士课程。她获得1975年密歇根州年度教师奖,但因为历年来获得该奖的纪录保存不完善,她的名字没有列在密歇根州教育局的名单上[3][4]。1980年代,她任命为威斯康辛大学密尔瓦基分校的教授,教授民族植物学与北美大湖地区印地安人的哲学,并于许多药草研讨会中演讲过[5]。她也是许多知名书籍的顾问,包含许多大湖地区当地植物使用的书籍。
她于1999年7月21日过世,并于花园岛获得举行大药师会仪式的荣誉。
