The External carotid artery arises in the carotid triangle and gives of 2 terminal divisions namely-maxillary artery & superficial temporal artery. It lies anteromedial to the internal carotid artery in its lower half and anterolateral to the same in its upper half. It then terminates behind the neck of the mandible
