According to legend, Zhong Kui was a man with grotesque features. In this painting, Zhong Kui sees himself in the mirror and is shocked by what he sees. With a dark cap in his right hand and wearing a red robe, he sits on four demons as a bat soars above. The four demons do not appear so much afraid of him as they are helpless. This work was arranged with a humorous quality by the artist. |
